Biography

I graduated from the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine (SIOM) with a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  SIOM prides itself on being a school where diverse modalities taught by experienced masters are brought together as a cohesive whole through both literature and hands on clinical experience.  It is also the only acupuncture school in the United States which requires its' students to learn to translate Chinese texts to allow access to the thousands of years of resource material.

Through my own personal work and experiences gained at SIOM I developed a philosophy on what it means to heal.  Healing is an ongoing process, not because symptoms cannot be lessened, alleviated, or eradicated, but because I believe true healing is a striving towards the inherent perfection we each possess.  I do not believe there is a separation of mind and body when it comes to healing- they are the same thing, one mirroring the other.  Health is obtained through caring for the physical, mental, and spiritual being.  Acupuncture is wonderful because it can treat all of these things without judgment or preaching by contacting the universal energy that is qi.

Additional certifications since graduating SIOM include Reiki I practitioner of the Usui, Hayashi, & Takata lineage and a Level 1 Qigong instructor through the Supreme Science Qigong Center.  Currently, I teach a Five-Element Qigong on the first and third Saturdays of the month in Poulsbo WA.  If you are interested in attending please email me and I'll get you information regarding time and location.

Before attending SIOM I worked with kids as a preschool teacher, as a councilor/site manager at the YMCA, and touring with the Missoula Childrens' Theatre.  My undergraduate degree is a BFA in Theatre Arts from Utah State University.
